The
band was originally formed by Jim Kidner back in 1990 at his place
of work, Hackney College, from members of teaching staff. The band's
name actually came about because quite a few members of the band were
paid for their work at the College by Section Eleven funding. Section
Eleven was a funding body for students from the 'new commonwealth'
and now exists under a different name, though the band lives on under
the same one.
When the band
started, we were all on the teaching staff at Hackney College,
but now only Barbara, Lisa and Venetia still work there.
