Sue started
singing in hotels/clubs in Cairo in the early 80s including singing
in hotel nightclub housebands (before the belly dancer act), with
a jazz quartet & even doing solo gigs on guitar & vocals.
Later spent some years in Brazil, absorbing Brazilian music
& studying guitar to play bossas.
Back
in London, she joined Jilly Jarman’s Haedra vocal group, performing
Jilly’s original compositions. For the last few years
she has been taking courses in jazz singing/theory and doing some
jazz gigs as a freelance vocalist (demo CD available if you’re
interested). Brazilian, Cuban and Latin jazz continue to be
musical passions.
Sue has
been with us for some years now and has considerably improved our
sound with her abilities, especially with vocal harmonies. She
also does excellent lead vocals. Sue started playing acoustic
guitar with us shortly after joining, she plays fingerstyle really
well and this has added a whole new dimension to our sound.
